TA 101: The Official Introduction

This is the officially recognised Introductory Course in TA, covering an intentionally agreed syllabus. Participants receive a Certificate of Attendance and are then qualified to apply for Regular Membership of the International and British TA Associations. It's a good idea to do the 101 if you're intending to take a Foundation Year in TA.

Transactional Analysis (TA) is a set of models which help us understand more about communication, human interaction and personal development. The fundamental belief is that we are all OK, can all think and that we make choices about ourselves and what to do every moment of the day. The wide range of TA theories and techniques are easy to understand and use. They apply equally well in social, family, educational and organisational settings and can be used by individuals and groups.

This programme will introduce you to the full range of TA concepts and show you how these can be related to such topics as: attitudes and personalities, working styles, personal styles, thinking styles, creativity and innovation, working with others, assertiveness, teamwork and groups, influencing and persuasion, handling change and many, many more.

14 & 15 September 2011

To get a TA101 Certificate, most people manage to attend a 101. However, if you can't make one of the actual 101 trainings, then you can still gain the Certificate by answering the 10 questions known as the 101 exam. These are listed on the international TA website, and the link is given below.

If you prefer the self-study route, then we will mark the questions for you and (assuming you get over 70%!) send you the Certificate. The fee for the marking is the same as the fee for attending a 101. If you choose this option, however, we will also send you free a distance learning package which consists of:

  • a copy of the course manual
  • a series of DVDs of a 101 which cover most of the theory and questions
  • and a pdf of the theory on the flipchart

You will also find Ian Stewart and Van Joines' book 'TA Today', publ. by Lifespace useful in answering the questions. It's one of the standard books, and we highly recommend it.

If you want to take the 'exam', then email us and register your intent:

  • we will ask you to transfer to us £150 marking fee
  • we will send you the pdf, manual and the DVDs
  • we will mark your answers and get back to you.

Then the way is open to you to apply for any TA training programme.
